Wang Liming, Executive Vice President of RUC Visited SRS
Professor Wang Liming, Executive Vice President of Renmin University of China (RUC) had visited the staff and students of SRS on the 19th October 2019. He had a meeting with students of SRS to learn more about their studies and life in Suzhou thus far.
Majid expressed that it was his first time in China and haslived here for a little over a year. He had visited the RUC campus in Beijing and felt extremely fortunate to be in Suzhou after witnessing the conditions of the dormitories in Beijing. He also commented that “had I known China earlier; I would have come here earlier. I should have come earlier.”
It is Ratul’s first time in China and he is grateful for the opportunity to be studying in SRS. He mentioned that the teachers are hardworking and approachable, and that students can easily get help and support from them. Furthermore, the condition and environment of the dormitories aresuperb, and he is glad to be experiencing this.
Daniele was an exchange student in the RUC Sino-French Institute in 2018 and feels honoured to be part of the SRS scholarship program. Emphasising on the importance of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Daniele feels that both countries should promote mutual understanding and more student exchanges, further enhancing the cultural exchanges between China and Italy.He is pleased to have the chance to interact with more Chinese people and to gain greater insights to the culture.
Yin Ru visited Suzhou once 10 years ago andis amazed by the developmentsof Suzhou thus far. She feelsprivileged to be given the opportunity to study in SRS, to be immersed in a melting pot of different cultures and to learn more about how the BRI is important to each country. She mentioned that the environment in Suzhou is peaceful and suitable for studying.
He encourages students to cherish the environment they are in and grasp every opportunity to gain more knowledge and deeper insight of the culture. Urging the students to be the next Marco Polo, Professor Wang hopes that the students can act as bridges for the friendship between China and their country while contributing to BRI and enabling the countries to develop and work for the common good.
Professor Wang constantly reminds students to voice out their needs and to approach the staff if they have any difficulties while reassuring them that the school will do its best to provide support and resolve any issues.
Suzhou, the Venice of the East, a city with rich culture and more than 2500 years of history, is a city that is suitable to live, work and study in. As students of SRS, we are fortunate to be living in this city.
