From April 22 to 23, “The Belt and Road of Knowledge” Forumwas held in Dunhuang by a combination of online and offline. It was jointly sponsored by Renmin University of China and Padua University in Italy, hosted by the Government of Dunhuangand co-sponsored by the International Union for Cultural Exchange, the China-Europe Alliance for Humanities and Arts Education, and the Dunhuang Institute of Culture. The participating experts and scholars gathered in Dunhuang, talking about the research, protection and restoration of cultural heritage from the perspective of "Belt and Road Initiative".

JinNuo, Party Committee Secretary of Renmin University of China and Chairman of the Academic Union for International Cultural Exchange, attended the opening ceremony of the forum. Du Peng, Vice President of Renmin University of China, Dean of Silk Road School, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of International Cultural Exchange Academic Union, presided over the opening ceremony.

JinNuo delivered a welcome speech at the opening ceremony. She pointed out that Renmin University of China has made fruitful achievements in "Belt and Road Initiative" cultural exchanges and cultural heritage protection in recent years. As the two ends of the Silk Road on land, China and Italy have similar understanding and respect for culture and history. It is believed that the holding of this forum will certainly add achievements to the research on cultural heritage in Belt and Road Initiative countries and even around the world, and inject new impetus into the cross-cultural understanding and dialogue between Chinese civilization and other civilizations.

Liu Wei, president of Renmin University of China, pointed out in his video speech that Renmin University of China and Padua University have maintained extensive and in-depth cooperation. The successful holding of this forum is not only an important achievement of the early cooperation between the two schools, but also an important milestone in opening a new chapter of cooperation between the two schools in the future. The purpose of this forum is to explore how to innovate the protection of cultural heritage in the context of a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial change.

Silk Road School students from Cameroon, South Africa and other countries and regions attended the meeting online through Zoom.Ndounfonsaid,“This forum was a nice experience for me! During the forum, I learned a lot of knowledge related to cultural heritage, Europe current tourism situation, cultural heritage from the perspective of the law and policies. I also learned about Muslims and the evolution of mosque architecture in China which was totally different from what we hear on western media. I hope to be part of the next forum organized by Renmin University of China in the near future online or on-site.”

After the seminar, JinNuo, Secretary of the Party Committee of Renmin University of China, Yan Jinming, Executive Director of the Institute of National Development and Strategic Studies of Renmin University of China, Jiang Xiaoli, Deputy Dean of the Silk Road School, and Zhang Xiulin, Deputy Mayor of Jiuquan, chenGuocai, Deputy Secretary of the Dunhuang Municipal Party Committee, Zhao Hu, Director of the Dunhuang Culture Institute, Zhang Xiaoning, Deputy Director of the Dunhuang Culture Institute had cordial exchanges.

JinNuo suggested that the Silk Road School and the Dunhuang Cultural Institute should strengthen their ties, organize overseas students to study and exchange in Dunhuang, and jointly contribute to the training of high-quality "Belt and Road" talents.

Jiang Xiaoli gave a detailed account of the Silk Road School. She said that the international students of the Silk Road School are very yearning for Dunhuang and are very interested in Dunhuang culture. She hopes that the two sides will have close exchanges in the future, expand cooperation, carry out more research and cultural exchange activities for international students, and build a platform for cultural exchange, to establish a long-term cooperative relationship

During the seminar, Renmin University Press of China introduced to the participants the mode of operation and participation of the overseas promotion project of teachers' academic works, and displayed more than 160 excellent academic works written by teachers of Renmin University in 18 languages. Jiang Xiaoli, deputy dean of the Silk Road School of Renmin University of China, said that she hopes to strengthen cooperation in the future, jointly enrich the book resources of teachers and students of the Silk Road School, and provide teachers and students with a deeper understanding of China and more paths to understand the construction process and cutting-edge research achievements of "Belt and Road Initiative".
