Students of SRS Visited the 2019 Yangtze River Delta International Cultural Industries Expo
Students and staff of Silk Road School (SRS) visited the 2019 Yangtze River Delta International Cultural Industries Expo on the 23rd November 2019 in Shanghai.TheExpo wasthrough the combined efforts of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces.
Occupying halls 7.2 and 8.2 were109 companies in the various categories such as comprehensive development sector, culture and technology, culture and travel, essence of overseas, film, television and mass media, creative lifestyle and CCLF international copyright trading forum.There were a few main local companies that were present such as Tencent, Bilibili, reading company and a newspaper company.Visitors were able to experience the various cultures through wine tasting, chocolate tasting, Korean meditation, songs and dances. There was also the live broadcasting of the finals for electronic sports.
Bui, a first-year student, expressed that the expodemonstrated the current vibrant state of Chinese cultural industry, which utilized latest technology while drawing heavy inspiration from the past. His favourite stall was JulingWenhua (聚灵文化) company where he found a comic about the first Sino-Japanese war.That was the first comic he had seen that was set in that period. “I also wished to buy some Bilibili stuffed merchandise because they were so cute, but it's a pity that they weren't for sale.”
Manahilalways heard about expo exhibits but had never thought of going to any of them.This was her first trip to an international expo. Through this event, she got to experience the local and international culture and was able to take a closer look the essence of art and creativity from China and the international communities. The Art Studio from Azerbaijan caught the attention of many of the visitors whileit was great to see the African cultural music being presented by the Africans. “The diversity of the features could be seen in every item from food to clothes to paintings and handicrafts.It was very interesting for me to see that besides its economic developments and industrial growth, China has extended its soft approach through the local and foreign cultural connectivity.I am glad that I got the opportunity to visit there and I am very much pleased that I could buy few Chinese cultural items for my family back home. It was worth a visit which I thoroughly enjoyed.” She shared.
The exhibition at the expo was comprehensive and provided a valuable experience for the students as they found something that interest them, while having the opportunity to explore the other area of interests.
