A Visit to SIP High-end Manufacturing and International Trade Administrative Committee
On 25th November 2020, Professor Jiang Xiaoli, Deputy Dean of Silk Road School (SRS) and International School, led a team to pay a visit to SIP High-end Manufacturing and International Trade Administrative Committee. They had a forum on strengthening the cooperation between schools, localities, and enterprises. Mr. Meng Hong, Director of SIP High-end Manufacturing and International Trade Administrative Committee, Mdm. Sun Jingxia, Deputy Director of SIP High-end Manufacturing and International Trade Administrative Committee, and Mr. Qian Xin, Deputy Director of SIP High-end Manufacturing and International Trade Administrative Committee, attended the forum.
During the forum, Professor Jiang gave a brief overview of SRS and Renmin University‘s Suzhou Campus and introduced SRS’s model of research visits giving the Huzhou visit as an example. Professor Jiang also expressed SRS’s intention to deepen cooperation with SIP High-end Manufacturing and International Trade Administrative Committee, to explore high-end manufacturing models and establish fixed research sites, and to strengthen China’s standing on the international stage.
Mdm. Sun Jingxia approved of SRS’s efforts in organising the research visits which are intended to give a fuller explanation of China development story, designing classes inline with SIP’s development and encouraging students to venture out into the international stage as well as attracting outstanding representatives of various fields to teach students in the classrooms. As one of the four major functional areas in SIP, Mdm. Sun mentioned that the High-end Manufacturing and International Trade District is an important platform for foreign students to understand how “Made in China”has evolve into “Intelligent Manufacturing in China”.
Mr. Qian Xin also affirmed SRS’s efforts and added that SIP is an important window for China’s opening up and a successful example of international cooperation. It is an excellent region for international students to understand China’s path, mode, and experience of development. He recommends organising a visit to the SIP planning exhibition hall for students who have just arrived to SIP, to get an overview of the city’s plans and development.
Mr. Meng Hong expressed that besides collaborations in research visits, the High-end Manufacturing and International Trade District and SRS can also design and explore other modes of collaboration, such as project cooperation, co-construction of a think tank and party branch, in order to further deepen the collaboration, materialise the sharing of resources and complement each other’s strength.
Through this forum, SRS and the High-end Manufacturing and International Trade District Administrative Committee reached a consensus on areas such as the development of research courses and selection of companies for visits. In the future, SRS and the High-end Manufacturing and International Trade District Administrative Committee will keep close contact to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation between both parties.
